Speech and Language
Both children and adults can have speech and language disorders. In children, speech disorders are often developmental and characterized by delays in being able to say speech sounds as well as reduced vocabulary and phrase length.
In adults, speech and language disorders are often a result from some type of brain injury such as a stroke or traumatic brain injury. After this injury, they may have difficulty recalling certain words or their speech may be hard to understand.
Whether a client is a child or adult, we base my treatment plan on what is most important for them to be able to communicate.
